My Response to Chris

His Moment:
My moment of the week has to deal with how not only are women part of domestic violence, but men are also as well. This moment came after reading the chapters. I think that many times it it always portrayed as the men committing the act and not the woman. This is also something men are afraid to admit that a girl beat him up when he is supposed to be the strong masculine man. This is actually an interesting subject on my part, because a friend of mine was abused by his ex girlfriend. She had actually broke his arm and she was this petite woman. We actually joked and laughed when he told us that she did it knowing it was out of rage. WE actually didn't take it seriously. Well come to find out after months after they broke up one night he came and told us all about it. I found it really interesting. He was afraid to admit to anyone he had plenty of domestic disputes with her. I think now why so many men are afraid to admit things like these kinds of things. I think that many times media and people tend to portray the males as coming to act and hardly ever the female. Actually I can't remember ever seeing this happen. I think that men are just to ashamed to tell anyone they are getting beat up by a girl. I seriously think I would do the same thing as him. I think that guys are not as caring and comforting about the issue as the women are when there girls friends are getting beat up. I don't know. I just think it's something that is not something that is out there that much. I think it happens to more men than society thinks.

My Response:

Many men don't admit to any kind of abuse from women because women have always been viewed as the weaker sex and men the stronger ones. So when a man admits to his friends that he was abused by a women it imediately makes him look not as strong (in his eyes). and our book states that men are taught to always be competitve and always looking to be the best. So if they admit to their friends this "weakness" they inturn would be asdmiting their weakness. I feel that should not be the case though. Anyone can hurt each other and people should never be treated that way.
